On Episode 228 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Jason Graves, who has lost over 100 lb. since starting CrossFit. Justin also interviewed CrossFit’s Jimi Letchford about the CrossFit for Hope fundraiser. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

The WOW (Workout of the Week) is from CrossFit Southie in Boston, Mass.

Every minute on the minute for 14 minutes:

Odd minutes: 10 shoulders-to-overheads (135/95 lb.)
Even minutes: 10 kettlebell swings (2/1.5 pood)
If you need to take a minute off, do so and complete 5 bar-facing burpees for every missed round at the end of the 14 minutes.

2:30 Jason Graves has lost over 100 lb. since starting CrossFit a little over six months ago. He came on the show to tell his story and explain how finding CrossFit has changed his life. He described what his nutrition was like before CrossFit and how some people don’t recognize him now. Graves talked about his first workout at CrossFit Bolt and why he knew it was exactly what he was looking for. He said the community at his box was very important to his success.

32:36 Jimi Letchford from CrossFit has been working hard to make CrossFit for Hope successful. He talked about how the idea originated with Coach Greg Glassman and how CrossFit’s founder and CEO knew great things would happen once the CrossFit community got behind a worthy cause. Letchford described what CrossFit for Hope is and how people can still raise money. The money raised before June 24 will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital hospital directly, and then the website will reset and the CrossFit Community will have an entire year to raise more money for a good cause. Letchford talked about visiting the hospital and how powerful it was to meet some of the patients.
