On Episode 274 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed CrossFit Belltown owner and HQ Seminar Staff member Nadia Shatila, as well as HQ Seminar Staff member Miranda Oldroyd. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
2:28 Nadia Shatila and several CrossFit Belltown athletes were fortunate enough to attend a recent lecture by Coach Greg Glassman at the University of Washington, and Shatila talked about what she took away from the presentation from CrossFit’s Founder and CEO. Moving on to her own affiliate, Shatila explained the philosophy behind her facility, which is far less spartan than many boxes. She described some of the programs she offers and how the basics class, bootcamp and other programs differ from regular CrossFit classes. As a road warrior who’s always on the move, Shatila explained how she’s able to balance her gym, her training and her work with CrossFit HQ’s Seminar Staff.
31:25 Miranda Oldroyd came on the show to talk about her preparations for the CrossFit Games Northern California Regional, which starts May 24. A trainer at NorCal CrossFit, Oldroyd explained the importance of building a sense of community and keeping CrossFit classes fun. Oldroyd spent some of the last year recovering from a broken neck, and she talked about her rehab as well as other areas of focus. She also detailed her pre- and post-workout nutrition and how she has to eat 20 Zone blocks a day just to maintain her weight.
