On Episode 288 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed both Individual second-place finishers from the CrossFit Games: Lindsey Valenzuela and Jason Khalipa. This episode was webcast Aug. 7, 2013.
1:32 Lindsey Valenzuela placed second at the recent CrossFit Games. She spoke about her performance and what it meant to stand on the podium next to friend, training partner and overall winner Sam Briggs. She said training with Briggs better prepared both for the Games. She also shared her opinion on how the Games events matched up with her strengths and weaknesses, and she talked about her disappointment in the Clean and Jerk Ladder, in which she tied for second. She described what’s next for her as she starts training for 2014.
17:30 Jason Khalipa returned to the CrossFit Games podium for the first time since he won the event in 2008. He looked back on his performances over the past six years and explained how his 2013 finish was a testament to his hard work. He also talked about how the competition turned into a duel between him and eventual winner Rich Froning. Khalipa shared his thoughts on winning the two rowing events, being disappointed with his 43rd-place performance in the Zig Zag Sprint event, and realizing he wasn’t likely to overtake Froning on the final day. Finally, the California Bear told the humorous story of his first meeting with fellow Games competitor Aja Barto.
