On Episode 290 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed three people who attended the CrossFit Tour stop and Affiliate Gathering in Big Sky, Mont., from Aug. 16 to 18. Jonathan Gonzales and Maria Aragon De Gonzales of Arbor CrossFit are featured in the first half of the show, and CrossFit Games Masters champion Craig Howard is featured in the second.
1:36 Jonathan Gonzales and Maria Aragon De Gonzales held the grand opening for Arbor CrossFit on April 29, 2013. Since then, they’ve welcomed about 175 members. The pair described what they learned at the Affiliate Gathering and talked about being able to speak with CrossFit Founder and CEO Greg Glassman. Jonathan and Maria explained how they follow his advice and try to create “unique, attractive opportunities” for their trainers and members, and they offered suggestions as to why their young affiliate is so successful.
14:25 Craig Howard won the Masters 50-54 Division at the CrossFit Games in 2013. He spoke about his experience, which was very much a group affair as Diablo CrossFit had a team, two individual athletes and three masters competing in the big show. Howard addressed several topics, including how he helps his trainers if they want to start their own affiliate. He also gave his opinion on drugs in sport, which is a hot topic at present as Major League Baseball cracks down on athletes using performance-enhancing drugs.
