What’s scarier? Bungee jumping or a heavy Fran?
“Oh, I’d rather do that,” says CrossFit Inc. videographer Jordan Gravatt, pointing to the bridge from where he just bungee jumped.
At the January CrossFit Tour stop in New Zealand, not only did attendees leap off a bridge while tethered to a glorified rubber band, but they also partook in white-water rafting, workouts and a bit of “post-workout refreshment.”
On the first night, Dave Castro, CrossFit Director of Training and Director of the CrossFit Games, had a surprise for top athletes in attendance: “This morning they did a nice little 10-minute workout. Now they’re gonna do a little strength component.”
Among the athletes were Games competitors Ruth Anderson Horrell, a Kiwi; American Jason Khalipa; and Aussies Chad Mackay and Kara Webb.
The workout was a classic: CrossFit Total.
On Day 2, the CrossFit Tour moved to an outdoor venue that provided a festival-like atmosphere complete with live band, barbecue, beer garden and, of course, CrossFit workouts. That was followed by a pub crawl at various spots, including an ice bar.
The next day featured another workout, as well as a talk from CrossFit Founder and CEO Greg Glassman.
