Hernandez talked about his strategy and how the workout was right in his wheelhouse. He also detailed his past performances in the Open and three Regional events, including a fourth-place finish at the South East Regional in 2012. Hernandez was in sixth place in the region after 14.3, and he talked about how he plans to change up his training as the Regionals approach.

Turner has been planning for the test for 15 years, and he spoke about how he’s used CrossFit for the past four-and-a-half years to train for all his mountaineering expeditions. He said the intensity of the workouts prepares him for challenging climbs. During his expedition, Turner plans to check in with CrossFit Radio via satellite phone from Everest.
