He recently placed 88th worldwide in the Open, and he described how his tactics changed for the first round of competition this year. Like other athletes preparing for the Regional round, his training intensity will increase, though he’s working around a minor injury and hopes to be fully recovered before the North Central Regional, which begins May 9. Allen explained how he tries to optimize recovery, and he commented on the evolution of the CrossFit Games, including the qualification process.
