On Episode 124 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Bob Guere, owner of CrossFit California City; Pam Robles and Dave Lombardo, who are organizing the CrossFit event in the California Firefighters Summer Olympics; and Mike Moody, the owner of CrossFit Fort Benning. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
3:30 CrossFit California City owner Bob Guere came on the show to talk about an upcoming event his affiliate is doing in conjunction with Edwards AFB: a 100-kilometer run. Bob explained that the teens in the CrossFit California City Summer Camp will be the ones participating in the event, and they’ll be running to raise money and awareness for The Disposable Heroes Project. Bob also explained the purpose behind his camp and how things are going so far. He outlined what his affiliate is doing on the adult athlete side of things, too.
15:50 Pam Robles and Dave Lombardo appeared on the show to spread the word about the CrossFit event in the California Firefighters Summer Olympics, which will take place this July. Dave gave information on the background to the Olympics and how CrossFit came to be a part of the proud tradition. This will be the first year that CrossFit will be included as one of the 34 different competitive events. Pam and Dave explained how they have been organizing their efforts with the help of CrossFit HQ and assistance from a lot of CrossFitters. The CrossFit event will take place on July 12 and 13.
32:10 Mike Moody is what he likes to call the “caretaker” of CrossFit Fort Benning. He explained the history behind the non-profit military affiliate and the process one would need to go through in order to establish such a box. He gave details on how his affiliate operates, where they acquired their equipment and what he gains from this labor of love.
