On Episode 125 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Rich Froning Jr., winner of the Southeast Regional. The second half of the show featured the World’s Fittest Female, Tanya Wagner. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, June 23, 2010.
2:39 Rich Froning Jr., owner of CrossFit Mayhem, recently punched his ticket to the 2010 Games by winning the Southeast Regional in dominant fashion. His first-place finish at the Alabama Sectional was just as impressive. Froning came on the show to talk about the competitions he used as stepping stones to the Games and playing catch-up to other monster CrossFitters who have more experience. He detailed how he frequently tackles three WODs a day and rarely takes a rest day. Like others, Froning found that cleaning up his diet made a difference in his recovery. Finally, the Southeast champ explained his outlook for the Games and how he will train for the remaining three weeks.
24:03 Tanya Wagner is co-owner of CrossFit Apex in Souderton, Pa. She placed second at the ’08 Games and was crowned champion in 2009. Wagner came on the show to talk about competing on the Affiliate Cup side this year rather than as an individual. This decision has already paid off, as the CrossFit Apex team won the Central East Regional and will be one of the favorites in L.A.. She talked about the differences between competing on a team vs. going solo, as well as how her fitness has progressed this year even though her responsibilities as an affiliate owner have increased. Wagner went on to explain her mental preparations for competition, as well as what she thinks of the Games being at the Home Depot Center rather than The Ranch in Aromas.
