On Episode 127 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed two male regional champions. First up was Central East Regional winner Braden Lutz, while the second half of the show featured Chris Spealler, CrossFit legend and winner of the Northwest Regional. This episode was webcast live at 6 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, July 7, 2010.
3:25 Braden Lutz is no stranger to CrossFit Competitions: in 2008 he placed 18th at the Games. This year Braden won the Central East Regional and came on the show to talk about the training and programming that helped him qualify for the Games. He talked about what he’s done differently to prepare for this year’s Games and how he will be approaching the WODs at the Home Depot Center. Interestingly, he works out with one partner in his garage gym.
27:55 Chris Spealler is a member of HQ’s training staff and owns CrossFit Park City in Utah. In a candid discussion, he explained the adjustments he has made this year in preparing for the Games. He feels he is at a mental peak for this competition, which will be his fourth CrossFit Games. Speal explained what the final week of training will entail and how he deals with the pressures of being a top athlete. He also shared his strategy of leaving nothing in the tank, which he hopes will propel him up the leaderboard and perhaps onto the podium.
