On Episode 347 of CrossFit Radio, host Justin Judkins interviewed Nicole Carroll, CrossFit Director of Certification and Training. This episode was webcast on Sept. 17, 2014.
2:37 In summer, CrossFit announced new levels of education and training designed to help trainers continue their development. Carroll defined each of the four levels and explained its benefits.
The Level 1 Certificate Course has always provided the foundation for CrossFit training, and that hasn’t changed. The new offerings build upon the Level 1 and allow a trainer to pursue excellence. Carroll described ways to prepare for the Level 2 Certificate Course, noting that it’s critical to be able to identify and improve incorrect movement.
The Level 3 certification is achieved only by completing an examination, and Carroll explained how to find testing centers around the world. Carroll went over the key aspects of ensuring the credential is maintained, as Level 3 trainers must document their coaching hours and fulfill continuing-education requirements.
The Level 4 certification is the gold standard for trainers, and Carroll revealed when it will be available. She concluded by giving advice to trainers who want to earn the Level 4 credential.
