What was it like to winning the title Fittest on Earth?
Join filmmaker Sevan Matossian as he interviews Annie Thorisdottir about her 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games experience.
At her gym, CrossFit BC in Iceland, Thorisdottir says she feels more confident after winning the Games.
“I feel like I can do more, and I feel like I can always push a bit harder,” she says.
On her road to the Games, she voluntarily competed in the Europe Regional even though she was pre-qualified due to her second-place finish in the 2010 Games.
“It was something that I needed because I was afraid of it,” she says.
Despite the risk to her self-esteem if she had placed poorly at the regional, she says competing helped her prove to herself that she could win. With confidence high after winning five of six events and the overall competition in the U.K., “Iceland Annie” went on to win the Games in Carson, Calif.
Thorisdottir shares her plans for training and competing over the next year.
“I wouldn’t do it if I wouldn’t enjoy myself doing it,” she says. Instead of letting the pressure get to her, she says, “I try to get out of that zone and into that enjoying the moment.”
