Erin LaVoie is a world-champion lumberjack who’s featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for most Christmas trees chopped in 2 minutes (27). She’s also co-owner of Predation CrossFit in Spokane, Wash., and says CrossFit has significantly improved her competition performance and mentality.
With the cameras rolling at a lumberjack competition in Idaho, LaVoie shows her grit by competing with the men and taking on some challenges that could jeopardize her all-around performance and chance to win money.
LaVoie says CrossFit has made a noticeable difference her endurance.
“I’m looking around listening to these other people breathe hard, and I’m ready to take 10 more flights of stairs like it’s nothing,” she says.
CrossFit has also given her the determination to test her limits and never give up.
“CrossFit, we don’t do easy. We don’t do lazy,” she says.
LaVoie has had such success with CrossFit that it has become her only training during competition season in preparation for her lumberjack events.
“It’s working for me,” she says.
She adds: “I’m getting faster, and it’s getting easier every time. It’s an amazing thing.”
