Join Sevan Matossian as he captures the athletes, judges, spectators and staff, providing a look at what goes on before, during and after the events of the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games.
In Part 7, Day 3 brings the final events of the competition. As Event 7: Dog Sled gets underway, HQ Media’s Tony Budding comments on the programming: “It’s supposed to be hard.”
Despite how painful the workout looked, second-place finisher Julie Foucher says she enjoyed it and loves competing “because it’s so much fun.” To her, fun is “pushing your limits, like knowing that you’re pushing yourself to be better and knowing that you’re constantly like striving to improve.”
“Never be afraid to put yourself out there,” veteran CrossFitter Annie Sakamoto says. “I’m glad that I grabbed the bull by the horns and went for it this year because I’m having an amazing time.”
The individual men come next, with Josh Bridges taking first place in the workout.
Afterward, the athletes reflect on their performances and standings.
“You don’t become a champion overnight. You gotta do work and you learn about yourself. And everyone’s got a different journey, so this is mine,” Austin Malleolo says. He finishes 17th in the workout.
